Leo Schwartz (composer, lyricist, & conductor) scores film and animation. He is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music and a member of ASCAP and the Dramatist’s Guild. He is a frequently commissioned composer whose works include Jazz, Theatre Music, and Concert Music.
His musical, NAUGHTY! – The Musical World of Emmet Taylor Farkas, was the Director’s Choice at the 2007 New York Musical Theatre Festival. His musical Me and Al has been presented both Off-Broadway and as part of the Global Search for New Musicals at the International Festival of Musical Theatre in Cardiff, Wales. His choral and instrumental works have been performed by choruses and ensembles in Boston, New York City, New Jersey, Houston, Denver, San Francisco, Palm Beach, Canada and throughout Europe.
He is the founder and Artistic Director of the Clark Street Band, a 13 piece big Band. Recent commissions include “Ocean Road, Clearly”, Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird for Clarinet, Stage Voice, and Piano, and So It Goes With Rose for the Chicago Clarinet Ensemble. Tickle Cakes, his children’s musical, toured three states and was a Finalist in the American Alliance for Theatre & Education’s Unpublished Play Reading Project. He has been a “Visiting Artist” at Ohio Northern University.
